As a therapist specializing in grief and loss, chronic and terminal disease, including cancer, as well as perinatal loss and mood disorders, my work centers on providing a supportive environment for healing and transformation. Grief and Loss
Grieving a significant loss can be deeply painful and isolating. It impacts our whole being and everyone’s grieving process can look and feel uniquely different. Grief and loss is universal but at the same time, very individualized.
As a therapist, I support people through all stages of grief in a non-judgmental, safe and empathetic environment. There is no fix to make the pain go away, but having professional guidance and support can assist in making the journey more bearable.
Cancer/Life Threatening Disease
A diagnosis can be extremely overwhelming for the person diagnosed, their loved one and caretakers. The unknown can be difficult and lead to feelings of anxiety, depression and at times, despair. It can be emotionally and physically exhausting.
As a therapist, I provide validating, emotional support that is free from judgment and advice giving. Services include assisting to cope with diagnosis and treatment, guidance in managing various emotions that arise, supporting all who are directly impacted by this life changing event and providing guidance through each phase of the illness and the changes that may occur.
Perinatal Loss and Perinatal Mental Health
Pregnancy and postpartum mental health disorders are common and can be treated. Pregnant and new mothers, as well as those struggling with fertility difficulties, traumatic birth experiences and perinatal loss are often not provided with the emotional support and recognition that is so important during challenging times.
As a therapist, I recognize the isolation, overwhelming emotions and pain that one can endure due to these experiences. My mission is to provide a safe and empathetic space to process emotions, honor experiences and losses and support those in recovery, while transitioning into new roles and ways of being. I am here to help navigate through the challenging times, whether it be with grief, adjusting to parenthood or coping with mental health difficulties.
End of Life
Counseling provides emotional, psychological and spiritual support to those facing end of life, as well to their family members and caregivers. This service is designed to help those impacted to cope with the reality of death in a compassionate and meaningful way.
As a therapist, I provide a safe and nonjudgmental environment to explore and process all of the complex and overwhelming feelings that arise, as well as facilitate guidance with unresolved issues, legacy building and finding a sense of peace and resolve during this difficult phase of anticipatory grief and loss. I work to develop a sense of comfort, clarity and a dignity in honoring all in this transition.
